BIG BIRD GOES IT ALONE spans work made in both Mexico and New Mexico from 2021-2023. From road-side characters spotted during drives to El Rito, to trucks full of stone sighted on the highway in Zacatecas, this body of work samples the myriad of materials, locales, and personas confronted in a life of constant motion and frequent solitude.

 As Big Bird leaves behind his fellow Muppets, he finds himself alone in a desert basin, having descended from a large bluff. He sheds his occupational and societal duties in search of all the earthly delights, leaving behind a trail of yellow feathers. He no longer fears the unknown, and has released his vice-grip on reality, his expression has dampened to an unrecognizable steady frankness. He can’t be followed, he can only be lauded. He takes his next step forward, utterly alone.
